Radiator screw problems.

I have these Swiftech MCR320-QP stackable rads

Well it seems that those little plastic pop rivets are crap in my opinion. Ive tried many diff methods but the just don't stay flush, there is a gap that I don't like between the rad and the fans.

Is it possible to just replace the bottom ones as in fig.4 with something like these?

32x3/8" hex bolts

As the instructions in fig. 1 said to use the included 32x3/8" screws.

I think the length is the same just not sure about the threading, any thoughts before I order?

did you check some place like home depot or lowes for those screws? Should take the RAD down to one and see if they have the same type of thing and see if they work.

I will agree those plastic things stink. I used them to hold the big 3x120 fan grill to my case and never sit flush and they slowly work themselves out of the holes.

I replaced the screws on my Black Ice Stealth because they weren't long enough for my application. The guy at the hardware store found the size but only had coarse thread screws. Finally went over and searched the metric drawers and found exactly what I needed. You'll probably need metric screws.

thx ill check the metric versions as well, today I only went to the local tiny hardware store on the way to work, and that was a no go, had a feeling they wouldn't work but figured ti was worth a try.

I'll hit home depot on the way tomorrow and see if they have any that will do.

good idea Bigbacon about bringing one down with me.
Maybe I'll check and make sure they're the same by wrapping up the a small 2x120 Swiftech rad and bring it along its the same thing as the one above just the 2x120 fan model, threads should be the same.

Just don't want to mess up the threads on them, so that might be the best idea.
The length doesn't bother me as much as I can dremel the ends down.

Yeah the only way I can see to put it together the way I want is with the kind of bolts in the second link.

the "6" denotes the diameter of the screw. according to wiki: "The numbering system follows a roughly logarithmic series where an increase in each screw number size approximately doubles the tensile strength of the screw." so you have diameter, thread pitch, length. makes sense.

those hex bolts you linked to are 10-32. a number 10 is WAY bigger than a number 6, so dont order those. they wont fit at all. i dont think 6-32 is very uncommon. any decent hardware store will have them in a variety of lengths. just ask for fine thread as opposed to coarse.

you want some of these. they really shouldnt be hard to find at a hardware store, but if all else fails you can order them there. don get longer or you can screw into the rad and make a leak.
