I just got my new system set up today. I'm running an AMD 64 3200+ on an ASUS K8V with a Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb. When I turned the computer on for the first time everything was fine for about 3 minutes and then my screen checkerboarded. I checked all my connections and made sure the card was firmly in the agp slot, but when i turned the computer back on it checkerboarded immediatley. I even removed and reseated the card but to no avail. I put my old video card(geforce 3 ti500) in the computer and it works perfectly. Is my Radeon DoA? or is there something I'm doing wrong?

stupid question..... power cable to card?

just checking. If that is in tight, could be card is bad maybe a bios issue with that card?

ya I have the power cord in good. I figured that since it worked for awhile the card wasnt doa, but it definitely isnt working now. My roomate thought he heard that radeons have issues with some motherboards. It's not overheating, because right after i turn it off i can feel the ram and the gpu and they are not even the slightest bit warm.

nm my friend just got back that has a radeon 9800 pro in his computer and it did the same thing for him, I'm just going to RMA it.

Sounds like it could be a heating issue. I'd ram it...

Yeah "ram" it with an old PC-133 stick that will teach it! :p
