Something doesn't seem right here, why would Nvidia lauch PCI-Express cards when there aren't even any PCI-Express mobos out, not to mention that they would be competing with the NV40 line of cards... I am thinking that maybe NV40 has been delayed to mid May or June.
The same applies to the ATI side. If you check on their mainpage, there is a marketting anouncement about PCI-Express, I expect that to just counter Nvidia's press release on their new cards. Still, they haven't even formerly announced the R420, and given their track record, it takes them 2-3 months to move from announcement to retail. If they announce it at CeBIT (middle of march), that'll put it at a mid May or June release date also.
Of course, this means that the LGA 775 and Socket 939 motherboards should be arriving on schedule given that Nvidia has decided there is enough of a market in the internim from late march til NV40 + R420 to justify releasing PCI-Express boards based on old generation technology.
All pure speculation at this point however. Any thoughts?
