Hello
i am looking to buy a new quiet psu in the 600-700w range

already tried the seasonic m12 600 last year but under load the thing was very noisy

currently looking at the
Corsair HX 620W
Zalman ZM600

or should i be looking at other models
doesnt matter if its modular or not

thanks

If you want quiet, one important thing to keep in mind is that the fan will spin faster the closer you get to max tolerances. There should be a dramatic jump in the 75-100% range. Therefore, it would be a good idea in your case to get a higher wattage PSU. The Corsair 750TX, which is only $20 more than the 620hx on newegg might give you enough slack room in that regard.

Just make sure you understand the differences in the hx and the tx, besides the wattage.

Exactly. If you were "stressing" the last PSU, causing to run hotter and warranting the fan to spin faster, than maybe you should get a bigger PSU so your load is < 50% of the PSU's capability and the fan is spinning slower.

The HX620 and the TX650 are essentially the same PSU, except for the fact that the HX has modular cables and the TX does not.
