Need to replace 3 120mm Antec tricools with something really quiet. Moving 2nd PC to living room as entertainment.
 
I am also looking for some quiet 120mm and 140mm quiet case fans. I don't care that mush about static pressure (since they are just case fans) and good airflow would be nice but not a must as I don't have a lot of heat in my system. My main concern is low noise. Are Noctuas really the best or is there something better out there? I am willing to pay the premium for the Noctuas if they are the best but if there is something else out there that is just as good for less or something better for the same or less I am open to trying something else.
 
I have used Scythe Gentle Typhoons. Quiet, reliable and they move enough air to keep things cool.
 
I am seriously loving my bitfenix spectres. I have probably 100 fans in my closet that I have used over the years and these are by far the quietest for the price unless you look at some of the $25 per fans.
 
Noiseblockers, BitFenix Spectre, Scythe Gentle Typhoon, Noctua... All of these are dead quiet under 1000rpm and still move air. 1200rpm is still perfectly tolerable even from only a few feet away. It's not just the decibel level, the type of tone they emit is a lot more pleasing than most fans.
 
Nexus Real Silent for dead quiet fans. Placing them horizontally is not recommended though, they die faster that way because of the bearing type used.


Gentle Typhoon is the next best thing. Pushes much more air than nexus above, is still silent and can be placed however you wish.
