So I currently have two 5850s in CF and it is too loud for me. I keep my PC on all the time and was looking into building or buying another desktop for media center recordings but instead decided to try and just make my computer quieter. My PS is a SeaSonic 650W X650 Gold.

I run my games at 1920x1080

I've decided to start with the graphics cards and kick the crossfire 5850s to the curb. What cards are great values right now? I don't need to most bleeding edge card unless that card also happens to be the quitest ;)

I want to be able to play Crysis 3 and other upcoming AAA titles with maximum settings @ 1080p.

Open to all suggestions

I had a msi twin frozr 3 7950 that was very quiet and kept the card pretty cool as well. I am very picky about noise and the twin frozr seemed the best to.suite my needs.

5850s in SLI ?

well there is your problem :D

and you dont need bleeding edge yet you want to run all of the most demanding upcoming games on max settings? IMO that does not sound very logical.

Max settings @ 1080p. If only the 670+ cards can do that right now than I guess I need bleeding edge.
 
How much money are you willing to spend? What's your target price? I wonder if getting a pair of 660ti's with 3GB of VRAM would be a cost/beneficial way to get some good graphical punch with some headroom for titles on the way... Especially if you're going to be capped at 1080p.
 
I hope to spend around $300 but would be willing to spend around $400 if I got something that was quieter, or significantly better, etc. I don't wan't to OC and would would prefer of doing the whole two card thing again. My ultimate goal for my computer (which might be impossible) is to have something that is very very quiet. iMac quiet while not gaming. While still having the ability to play games when I want. I also plan on getting a new cpu cooler if the new cards don't help enough with the noise.

Part of me was also thinking of ordering an x51 but I think this way would be much more economical while still being faster. I just bet the X51 is pretty quiet.

Agreed, particularly when the one game you list is always the most demanding game upon release. Heck, Crysis couldn't be maxed out even WITH bleeding edge hardware at the time.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I have a Galaxy GTX-560 with a cooler that looks very close to the 670's. And it's no noisier than my 5 case fans.
