The fan in my PSU makes a REALLY ANNOYING SOUND it's kind of a "vibrating" sound if you know what I mean. Is there a way to put an end to this Hellish noise? I don't dare to open up the PSU because of the high voltage so any suggestions...

err, there was some discussion a while back about some sort of sound-dampening spray-on liquidy stuff. I think it's used in auto parts. Try googling for it. Short of getting a new PSU (since opening one up is really not an option for those looking to retain all body parts ;)), I don't see any other suggestions.

ive opened up a bunch of psus and not gotten shocked. anyways, if you do open it, you could try some rubber or something between the fan and the casing. otherwise, go with carnival forces and use the spray on stuff.

Replace the fan with a Panaflo L1A. Optionally replace the fan scrws with EAR elastomer mounts.

opening a PSU is no problem....just make sure it's unplugged and there's no charge left. like, click it off and watch the leds of your (already turned off) machine fade to back. Voila! No more charge left in the thing. Remove it from the PC and unplug the sucker. Pop the housing open and be careful while you're in there not to move too much around. Change the fans to something quieter, and snap it back into place.

don't put it back on your machine instead, plug it in and switch it on....maybe connect an old cd rom drove t oit and see if you have any problems. then---if not, hook it back up to your machine and go for it.

It's tinkering man...so long as you dry up the juice it should be all good.

Yep, I always change out the fans and throw in those vantec vibration dampeners, still need to get some EAR mounts tho, I hear those are really sweet
