Quick Question .... New Build PCI-E Placement

I am putting together all the details for my new build.......the question I have is with the pci-e sound cards out now, will it be fine to stick it in the bottom black pci-e 2.0x16 (x4) slot on an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO. I will only be uing a GPU> GTX 580.

That slot shares bandwidth with some other stuff, but it shouldn't cause any problems.

*1: The PCIe x16_3 slot shares bandwidth with PCIe x1_1 slot, PCIe x1_2 slot, USB3_34 and eSATA. The PCIe x16_3 default setting is in x1 mode.

Thanks for the info.

As for a sound card I havent %100 decided ..... was looking at a Creative Labs XFI Titanium fatality champion. I have also been looking at some of the cards from Asus.

I do need a card tho that will work with my older Z5300 speakers , meaning the correct 5.1 output jacks
