Hey there...my bro just got a case that comes with a RaidMax PSU from Newegg...I've not heard much about those PSU's and I know that if you don't get a reliable PSU that it can really screw up your hardware later on...

So what's the word about RaidMax PSU'S???

C'YA

Ok...so how do I convince him to get a new, reliable one??? All I know what to say is that an unreiable one can really screw up the rest of your hardware but that didn't seem to convince him...prolly should say a more detailed convincing...so what should I tell him???

EDIT: He bought THIS one from NE...*I* personally don't like it...it looks like a cheapo older Thermaltake case rip-off...you can EASILY get a much better case for around that price...

Simply tell him that spending a little bit more on a good psu now can save him from having to spend money on all new hardware if and when (in my experience it is really more of a question of when) the raidmax psu decides to go. He doesn't have to spend a lot of money on a good power supply. Take these for example.

Any of these are good choices.

The best Raidmaxes look like this 400W model and are weak but reliable. However I think that your brother received something that looks more like this 400W Powmax. Powmax, Raidmax, Robanton, and Ultra-X are all by the same manufacturer, Leadman, and MaximumPC recently found that a 500W Ultra-X failed in testing at much less than 500W, something like 350W.
