I have NF7-S, AMD 45 Watt Mobile Athlon XP 2500+, OZC 512MB(256MBx2) DDR PC-3200
i have it at 2.21Ghz the ram is at 400Mhz

i used arctic silver but i dont know if this will make a big diff but i kinda slid the heatsink and maybe smudged the paste alittle is that maybe why im getting kinda high temps its done upto 51C and normaly at like 42-44C
 
Temps are pretty good, really. If you're concerned with the CPU/grease install job then I would pull off the HSF and check it out, if it looks okay then reseat it. If you got paste all over the place then clean it off and try again.

Should you try for 2.4GHz? Have you checked to make sure its stable where its at right now? Prime95 is a good tool to use. If its stable then keep bumping up the FSB 1-2 MHz at a time until it becomes unstable or above 65 C at full load. Then bump it back down a little. You may need to increase the voltage a bit, too.

how long do i need to keep prime 98 on? im on like test 10?

For a quick check of stability, 30 mins - 1hr should be fine. If you want a more comprehensive analysis, 24 hrs is generally regarded as 100% stable.
 
haha. i wish i could get down that low. i'm almost always at 50*C nowadays. of course it is 85 in my room... but still.
 
I would consider that stable. It is Prime95 by the way ;) .

At this point I would start turning up the FSB or "external clock" as it may be called in your BIOS. OCZ makes pretty good memory, you should be able to crank it a little past spec. If that makes your system unstable then turn it down and give the multiplier another stab.
 
First of all, 51C temp is not "fine", that is running pretty hot for mobiles seeing as most mobiles default on all the thermalright sp-97's ive seen run on them run at 30 - 35C. Might be something with your motherboard, it would also be helfpul to know what vcore you are at, if thats at 1.65v or something thats pretty hot and would look into some better cooling methods.

People think that upping the voltage shortens the lifespan of the processor. This in a way is incorrect, heat shortens the lifespan of the processor. In theory, someone with a 2.0vcore with lower temps than 1.5vcore, the 2.0v will outlast the 1.5v.

51C is normal for the stock HSF and other cheap units. 30-35 is what one would expect from a more expensive HSF.

By the way, AMD says the XP Mobile series will run up to 70-75C.
 
My temps shoot above 50C when I put my case side pannel on. I just leave it leaning against my case now and my temps are 35C - 40C. This is because my case has bad ventilation, and everything in my case make a ton of heat. I use a Radeon9700PRO and that is a little toaster wannabe.
