I currently have a 80 gig Samsung SATA drive in my box. I'm curious if i was to pick up one of the 80 gig special edition WD drives that are on a one day sale at newegg if i could use the serillel adapter that came with my NF7 to create a raid 0 array. Is it required to use the exact same drives when creating RAID arrays?

exact same drives are not required, and yes it should work using the adapter.

be aware you'll need to format the drives to setup the raid array, and raid 0 means if one drive dies you're likely going to lose all your data, i'd recommend not doing raid0 actually, heh, you won't really see much benefit from it.
