Quick hyper threading help

Is it possible to disable hyperthreading from within windows? The machine is a compaq with a very limited bios, from what i hear there is a string that you can add into the win.ini file to do so, any ideas?
 
Then you're SOL. If it's an issue only with certain apps you can select them in Task Manager and only give them affinity for one "CPU" instead of using HT.
 
BIOS is the only place I have seen to disable it. If its a problem with a program you could set affininty or something. But, BIOS is it.
 
Right that's where we went with the isuse, the program is Pro Tools LE which crashes with HyperThreading enabled, so we're trying to find a way to periminately set the affinity to only CPU 0 before we send the guy home with his machine
 
Got it figured out, found a program that perminately modifies a .exe and writes a string to it that sets the affinity when it's being opened
