These questions are for anyone who has had experience with MS Project Server 2007.

  1. Is Project Server simply a means of distributing information among project managers, or can you actually create projects within Project Server? If so, is an internet connection necessary to do so?
  2. If not, is Project Professional needed in order to connect to Project Server? If so, how does this work?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Think of project server as a central repository for a number of projects. You store the MS project files, documents, discussions, etc on that local server. People can view and track projects, and also update their own tasks.

You create the projects with MS Project Professional, and save them in the server - so you only need enouh seats of project for those people who create or modify projects.
