Questions about hot pixels

It is hard to find information about hot pixels on the net so I figured I'd ask here. A few years ago I gave my sister my old Canon S30. Back then I didn't notice any hot pixels in the pictures but then again, I probably didn't look very well for them. I just bought her a new camera and got my old S30 back. When taking pictures now, you can see a few red dots that seem to appear in the same place in every shot. Sometimes they are harder to see because they are against bright backgrounds but they seem to be there in every shot.

Also, I have a Rebel XT and now that I have looked carefully for them, I seem to have a few. They only show up easy to see at high ISO speeds but seem to be in all the pictures I take. On both cameras, they are more than 1 pixel. More like a block of four or maybe even nine.

My questions are, can hot pixels develop on your sensor over time like mine seemed to have done? And is it normal for hot pixels to show up more pronounced at higher ISOs?

I looked at some of my older pictures from my XT and the only hot pixels I seemed to see were in random spots only one some images. I guess random ones in 1/5 pictures is normal but these were not in every shot in the same place like they are now.

Sounds like noise to me. Especially with the Rebel at high ISO. If you dont see it in lower ISO, then it is noise at that range. Teh Sony has probably always had some noise but wasnt as noticable.

I don't think it is noise but I will post some pictures tomorrow if I can get access to my computer. I really wish Canon DSLR cameras would use SD cards because I have a reader on this laptop and I could just take some new shots.
