Questions about CrossFire.

Hello all, with my next big build, I was thinking of jumping ship to ATi. I just had a few quick questions about CrossFire, as I have not used an ATi card since the 9800 Pro.


1) Is there any way to tell if CrossFire is working? I.e. with SLi you can check the box that says "Show SLI rendering load" and you get the green bars.

2)How mature is CrossFire in comparison to SLi?

3)How well, in actual game play does it scale?

1. Well I think there's an "enable/disable" thing in the drivers. I'm not exactly sure as to check how crossfire is working, though you should know from your performance
2. Crossfire is very mature
3. Crossfire scales as well or better than SLi.

Scaling is great when the drivers work. On the current 48xx cards, the drivers are very immature. With Catalyst 8.7, things should work much better.

I'm new to multi-GPU, so I was the same way last night, trying to figure out if it was seeing both cards correctly and how would I know if it's being used. One way would be to have the CCC open on the overdrive page, where you can select which card it's monitoring. If you run a game in a window so that you can see both going, you can switch between cards and watch the GPU utilization. Or in my case, the latest beta of Everest supports the 48xx cards now, so I can just watch the numbers on my G15's LCD. You could also tell CCC to disable crossfire, do a benchmark, then enable it and compare. Don't use Crysis.
