Question regarding computer clock and WU deadlines

I recently purchased a used motherboard for cheap and forgot to update the BIOS clock. The clock had been reset back many years after a clear CMOS. A couple of months ago, I had to update a clock on another machine that was only a few days behind, but lost the WU because the client registered the clock advance as failing to meet the deadline.

Is there a way I can save this WU if I advance the clock to the present, or should I just let the WU complete and then update the clock?

I personally wouldn't risk it!

Especially, if the WU is far along. Let it finish, then update time.

That's what I was thinking as well. Last time I updated the clock it stopped and the client DL another WU.

Stop the client.
Start with the -configonly switch and set it to ignore deadlines.
Reboot and set the clock right.
When the WU finishes and you've got to new one with the correct time stamp then reconfig it so it checks deadlines again.

Thats the correct way to set a clock but still do it with only a few % done just to be safe.

I make it a habit of saying ignoredeadlines. There seems to be no harm.

As long as you can catch it after it uploads this work unit and before you download the next one, you'll be fine.

If you do download the next one then just reconfig it to ignore deadlines before you change your clock.
Thats what I'd do.
