Alright im gonna sell some parts and will get 150-160 to spend on a different part. Now i am just looking for your guyses opinions. After i sell the parts im selling. This is what i will have left.

X800XL
3200 venice @ 2.4ghz wont go higher.
1gb XBLK ram
120gb

now i am wondering...should i save the 160 and invest it in a new vid card? or should i buy another 1gb of xblk ram?

I have a warranty on my x800xl so i can return it and recieve 299 $ store credit (yes i bough it at Compusa, but the warranty thing is a good deal.)

your opinions?

The system is sufficient enough until you get to the newer games such as UT2k7 and such. Other than that wait until oct. for R520 and make your decision whether to get an R520 or 7800.

So you dont think i should invest in a second gig of ram?

i mean i was thinking of a video card..but when the new ATI cards come out, i would be able to use my warranty and have $299 dollars to spend on a new card at compusa......?

It goes vid card > cpu > ram as whats to upgrade first. So essentially save that money for next gen vid card.

By next gen you mean, the R520? / 7800?. Or later then that?, i was thinking about getting another gig of XBLK memory, because no matter what i will have 299 $ to spend on a video card, but wil it be enough?

sorry but i had to bump this.......what do you consider next gen? 7800/R520?

Im looking to what ATI has to offer next, I kinda dont want to have 1gb of ram but have 2gb instead...im getting used to it.

Ugh, if you have 299 ALWAYS to spend on a new videocard at compusa... and u are willing to spend more money to get w/e ... then I would say return ur x800xl add some money and get the top end card ... but.. if ya play games like BF2 right now... more ram would be better..

Wait for the R520 and then see if you like it more than the 7800 and make a decision on what to buy, but that would be an upgrade i would suggest.

Also, if you are still using a CRT exchange that and get an x > 17" LCD with good response time.

yea i am still using a CRT, but i dont mind it. its a sony g220 17". i only play at 1024x768, with different amoutns of AA and AF for different games. I dont mind jaggies either. So im not looking into chaning the monitor. I hope the R520 is gonna do a good job competing. Although i really want to get 2gb of ram...i still want the R520...... I have 2gb right now but im gonna sell 1. So ive been playing BF2 and Fear demo with 2gb and its just beauty... Maybe ill hold off on teh 520? see when prices drop if i can get a card for around 300 $.

get the ram.

yea, keep 2 gb of matched ram.

How long will the $299 cash back thing last? If it'll last at least 6 months, maybe 8, then you should be seeing more than the r520 at the high end. $299 will be be VERY useful at that time.

it will last around a year from this summer. So summer 2006 wil be my last oppurtunity to use it....but if i buy a more expensive card and buy a 50 $ warranty for it then i will have that amount i spent on the card for warranty for next 1 year.
