question on e8500 OC

I wanted to know if this was a decent Overclock with an e8500??:

 
Could you try a lower bus and higher multi? I can't see you going much higher with 500 bus.

450x9.5?=4.2

I can't see you going much higher then that w/out going water.

What is your voltage in there? What cooler?
 
Cooler is the TRUE120 lapped and I am using 1.3 volts set in the bios with everything else set to auto in terms of volts.
 
I would definitely try a higher multi with a lower bus speed. Most peeople are getting this overclock on their 8400's. I would also look at my ambient temps and definitely look at case air flow if your ambient is ok. I would expect at the very least 4.2Ghz. If not, then what's the point of the 8500, just return it and get an 8400 that runs 4.0Ghz and save ~$100.

Honestly, I see no point whatsoever to have an 8500 overclocked if it's only at 4Ghz.

Exactly what I was thinking with you running it at 4GHz. For a more expensive chip you atleast think you could get another 200MHz. You got a high multi chip, a mobo that can do 500mhz fsb, and the best air cooler, you have lots of options and chances to have fun. Play around with it! :D
 
Well I didnt pay anything for this chip. Just wondering if this is a good area for a nice FSB and OC.
 
4GHz is what everyone wants for an E8400.

I's strive for 4.2GHz for the E8500. 4.4GHz feels like it would want water cooling.

I was curious what your response would be... I'd just have to add that in my experience with overclocking I always chose the highest multiplier to relieve the stress and additional temps created by the Northbridge running so fast. Obviously this only applies with FSB speeds near or above 500Mhz.

Why not raise to the highest multiplier and adjust your FSB accordingly to achieve 4.2Ghz. Or send it to me and I'll give you an entire Athlon 64 PC build. Seriously!
