Question on burning this image

I have an image on my computer which I intend to burn on disc for my new computer. The image is very large and I believe it's intended to be burned on DVD, but the computer I'm using to burn it doesn't have a DVD burner.

Could I burn this image onto multiple CDs? The image is an OS and will it work for me to install the OS using multiple CDs instead of a single DVD?

Thanks if you can answer my question.
 
Live cd's are very simple at least with Ubuntu. I have installed many live cds with no problem at all. What kinda kind of os is it?
