I'm a bit confused to seem companies with plans for 2560x1600 resolution screens for tablets. I think that's great and all but I am very confused why there is a push for this type of resolution on a tablet and not a bigger push on monitors. I'd sure like to see that resolution on screens down to 24 inches or so. It just seems like ppi has been flat-lined for years now on monitors while at the same time there is this huge push for super-uber-retinotastic ppi's on phones/tablets.

Why do people want that kind of a resolution on something that they will use to browse the web or play flash-style games.

Is the reason why there isn't a push for higher rez panels under 30 inches because of some technical limitation? Would the panels cost to much and not do much business? If I had to guess then i would think it probably had to do with most monitor buyers don't really understand anything anyways so they look for rock-bottom prices above all else and the market that would be interested in such panels to begin with is probably small and most of them would probably be willing to spend more on bigger panels anyways.

I was just curious if anyone had any ideas on the matter.
