So... I am tired of the same old setup in my car and would like to do an entire computerized multimedia system in my car. The question is... how sensitive are HD and optical drives? If I am playing a DVD or CD in a DVD-ROM drive mounted in a car will it skip profusely? With the jarring of the road upset my HD and cause erors? Just wanted to get some help with this before I get too carried away.

i know nothing about car setups, but i imagine that a laptop HD, will be a better bet since they are designed with movement in mind ......

i'm sure some of experts will weigh-in on this one !!

Both Seagate and Hitachi have automotive drives. They are designed to work in temperature extremes that would kill lesser drive. They are also extremely resistant to shock and humidity.

Hitachi Endurastar
Seagate EE25 Automotive Series

That would be where I'd start. Those drives will take a licking and keep on ticking :)
