Question about GPU price drops?

Do top of the line GPU cards drop in price much or do they get discounted quickly? I'd like to buy the MSI GTX 780 Ti but $710 is a bit too much. Do you think the card will be available next year? Based on past history do manufacturers keep producing top of the line cards for a year or two?

This question is answered by Demand of the product, competition and overall performance of the card in comparison to other cards in or below it's price range. At present I wouldn't expect much change in the near future..

Depends on the company, really (or used to until the cryptomining craze).

AMD cards usually dropped significantly as time passed on.

Nvidia cards... not so much (until last fall, anyways, when massive price cut occurred due to AMD introducing Hawaii).

Nvidia strategy seems to be "keep price on high end cards high even after we release the next gen cards, because people will have to buy the older cards if they want to sli them".
