To start off with I've never actually had the pleasure to try either eyefinity or nvidia surround. I have a few questions about it though.

For users that have used this setup isn't your main focus on the center screen 99% of the time?

Would you guys prefer to have eyefinity / nvidia surround or a 42-52" HDTV for gaming? (not for apps and office use)

It seems that you'd have to sit pretty far away from a triple monitor setup in order to have all the screens in your field of view but at that distance although your horizontal fov would be great, your vertical fov is relatively small now in comparison.

What do you guys think?

I have a Nvidia 3d surround setup consisting of 3 23.6" acer 3d lcd's mounted in my Obutto Ozone. Of course, it's in ladscape, and i'ts a pretty awesome sight, especially for sims. For fps, you can certainly gain the peripheral advantage, however, as there tends to be a lot of action center screen, it may not go as noticed. I personally don't get all the people running tripple monitors in portrait for gaming. It is a slightly wider aspect than a single 16:9 monitor, but seems quite expensive for the end result: A higher resolution hdtv. I've also gamed with a Sony Bravia 40" LCD on my desktop. Much easier to get up and running in games (don't have to worry about the game supporting custom resolutions or aspect ratios), much less expensive, and no interuptions of the display.

Long story short, both options can be great. I've personally chosen surround for the wider perspective, sim friendly setup. But a single HDTV can also provide some stunning results. So I guess I'm just saying either is a win/win.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. There isn't really a right or wrong here just looking for some different opinions. I'm surprised at the poll 9/1 but I have a feeling a lot of people have only tried one way or the other and is basing there vote upon which they have...
