question about AMD/Intel

Hey guys/girls. I have a quick question. I have a mobile 2600+ oced to 2600mhz (water cooling). I'm considering trading/selling it for an intel 2.8.

Assuming I can get around 3.2-3.5 out of the Intel chip by overclocking with my water set up, how big of a performance gain/loss would I see between the 2 overclocked cpus?

Basically my 2600mhz AMD vs an oced p4 oced to around 3.5 (if possible)

I do web developement including design work in photoshop/fireworks/flash. I play games as well, but my system is mostly used for office work.

With the oc that I currently have, would it be worth taking the chance and hoping to get a good oc out of a 2.8 and switching over to Intel?

And, if it is worth it, what chipset? i875 or the 865? and what motherboard oc's better/further.
Thanks,
m3at

it's not worth it man

check out my sig, both of my systems perform the same and my 2600m is only at 2.46ghz. i get similar benchmark scores with both of them. yours at 2.6ghz would beat out my 2.4c at 3.45ghz. you'd need an oc of about 3.6-3.8ghz to match and beat your oc you have now, which would be a gamble.

i guarantee you will not notice a difference because i haven't between my 2 systems. and if you checked out this thread in strickly amd, you'll notice that your 2600m at 2.6 is pretty comparable to an a64 3200+

i'd say save your money and upgrade in May when the new stuff comes out for both amd and intel

cool man, thanks for the reply. I'm glad that you have 2 systems, one of each, that you can compare. I've always wondered what real world performance would be between the 2 since I've never owned a p4 before.

much appreciated. I'll be hanging on to my system and waiting for a few months before upgrading. :D
