question about a dell cpu

hey guys, i just built a new rig for my friends comp, was just wondering if i was to stick his 2.4 intel cpu in my comp, would i be able to o/c it like most 2.4's you see out there (3.0 on air etc) or does dell do something to their cpu's that makes this impossible. Thanks

Why dont you ask your friend that question since he owns that cpu and tell him if you break it buy him a new one, Dell cant modify how a cpu operates and only intel can......the only thing that dell modifies is their crappy bios.

Dell's typically have Intel motherboards in them. So usually overclocking will not be a likely possibility.

Exactly.....dell has a modified motherboard made for them a crappy looking bios and a generic PSU and a modified power button. hehehehehehe.......Im saying this coz i own a dim 8300. The only i got far from this is sticking an SP94 and 2 92mm tornadoes....Just tryin to have some practice till my gf brings me home my P4C800-E Deluxe mobo from houston..........

putting it in my mobo lets say, do you believe it will overclock well? or not?

yes, i believe

CPUs are CPUs.... overclockable motherboards are overclockable motherboards.... intel chipsets are intel chipsets..... dell computers are GHHEYY!!!!...lol, jp

anyways, right now i m trying to overclock my friends dell by "upgrading"....what it realy means is that hes buying new parts to put his processor in to overclock it.... it should work

It will overclock just the same as any other intel chip out there. Dell doesnt do anything to the chips to make them any different.

The overclock is chip dependant, so you may not get a good overclock, and then again, you may. Depends on the quality of the chip, the cooling etc... etc....
