Question about 6.1 setup

Alright my moms boyfriend has a 6.1 speaker set-up that he wants to use but has a crappy onboard sound chip what would be a good sound card that would give him true 6.1 channel playback.
 
the creative audigy 2 value, or the audigy 2 zs gamer, or the audigy 2 zs vanilla (just plain audigy 2. nothing special.).
 
yeah basically any soundcard with spdif (optical ) out would be alright as long as an audio reciever is doing the signal processing versus the a six speaker setup being processed by the sound card, then goto audigy imho
