ITWorld says that Intel has plans for a quad-core Penryn mobile processor for high end gaming and mobile workstations. Though no specific date was given, the article says that the processor should be available sometime in 2008.

"You'll see it at the high-end, but I don't see it running so fast into the mainstream because I don't believe there will be enough threaded applications that will justify the tradeoffs," Eden said. Multithreaded applications allow several parts of code to be executed simultaneously and take advantage of the multiple cores used with the latest processors.

This is what I have been gunning for! Can't wait! By then, hopefully there will be some sorta 8950GTX Go or something to go along with the new platform/chips.

My 2.13GHz P-M is getting pretty stale... But, she can last another year (I hope).
