I have a qpack with the following

opteron 148
biostar tforce 6100
7900 GT
Xfi-soundcard.

the cpu is cooled with a zalman 7700 cu but i get crap temps. at stock the cpu idles 35c and load is like 45c. It is pretty hot in my room but still i expected better temps. I oced my 148 to 2.6ghz and now i get 37c idle and 51c load in prime95. I seen someone here get a better temps than me with a more oced cpu.

Is it possible that my cpu has bad contact between the ihs? My heatsink is tightly mounted so i doubt that is the issue. I have my 120mm as intake

I disagree that isnt fine.
I have 2 146's i have one in a well vented ATX case and one in a Qpack. dont go off the temp reading on the front as this is often wrong, if connected at all!

50 degree C is considered by many to be a danger zone in opteron stats, i clock my main ATX to 3.1 with Volts and i never break 45 on prime. if i leave volts standard i hit 2906 at 41 prime95. 32 idle.

My Q pack though is a diff story. it is very hard to get it to push 2500 (500 over) as it usually crashes out. you need more ventilation. take the case apart and run it with a standard house hold fan pointing at the heatsink. if you still have high temps this will tell you if it is the contact or not.

50C is what you get with the stock heatsink....if he puts a 92mm on the side and a 120mm exhaust the temps will be ok.

Never had a problem with my QPack - Opty 146 @ 2.9GHz 1.5v with AMD Dual Core Opty HSF and silverstone FN82 get 38c idle and 48-50c under load depending on room. Thats a stock X-QPack
