i'm having random reboots and i believe i've narrowed it down to hdd temp problem.

running everest, i see that the 2 hdds in the hdd cage are at 30C(86F) and 39C(102F).

this is under very little load and with the case top OFF. does this sound right?

i can't imagine them being so hot. anyone cooling your hdds?

thanks for the help.
robert.

Qpack power supply is garbage. After many reboots, and weird stuff happening, i narrowed problem to voltage bumps. I ran Asus Probe during Torture Test, and voltages are going up and down like crazy from 10.5v to 12v, thats way over acceptable fluctuation...

I switched to silverstone 520w psu, and system is rock stable, overclocked and stable.

Aspire lies about specs on their PSU, and you can see how low quality it is by just holding it, its way too light to be serious PSU... even my shuttle xpc 250w silentx psu is heavier than Qpack PSU.

i had 2 hdds in the drive cage and 1 in the spare 5.25" bay. Last night, I took 1 hdd from the cage out, and then put hdd coolers on the remaining 2. Left it on overnight. temps were in the upper 20'sC for each of them just from sitting around all night.

swapping PSUs was my last resort... i do have a spare PSU - OCZ modstream that i can slap in.. hopefully, since it's a modular PSU, i won't have an issue with the tight space. i think i'll do this when i get home today.

thanks.

Didn't aspire fix the psu problems. I am still swapping mine, but still.
Yea, they did, they replaced sticker on it. Same crap PSU, different sticker, with higer amps/rail. ;)

I had the "new" one, and its the the worst PSU i ever had in any of my machines.

I had big time lockup problems with that POS PSU. Replaced it w/ a 500 Watt aspire PSU and runs like a champ now. I agree with the above post. Horrible, horrible PSU. But the case owns.

did you guys replace your optical drives w/smaller ones or use those low profile molex connectors?

Those HDD temps sound fine. I get HDD temps like that in my ATX mid tower all the time with Seagate HDDs (which are amongst coolest running drives around).
