Qnap PC build

Hello all,

Would like to share my current custom pc build that is a work in progress.

I had an old Qnap TS-410 that was sitting around and thought it would be great to build a pc in it, I am using mostly old parts sitting around the house and a couple of parts that I had to buy to suit the build.

Componets I already have:
Qnap TS-410
Motherboard P8Z77-I
8Gig ddr3
CPU 2600k I7

Componets currently being shipped:

PicoPSU-160-XT with 180w power supply
Pcie ribbon cable non powered
MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GT LP 4GB

Here are the first pics.

P.S Measure twice cut once... as you can see the back plate hole is way to big!

Here is a pic of the front panel wiring... I had to cut the ends off the usb and buttons as qnap use a different connector than a standard motherboard design.

I cut a front panel usb cable off an old case and used a soldering iron to connect the wires and whollla it works great!

I had a problem with the power button.... I traced the wiring of the small pcb and connected the correct circuit's but power putton still would not work , however I was able to use the copy button on the front panel to get the pc to boot weird!

I love your 1-wire usb connection

p.s. why you are not using thermal sleeving to cover those soldered wires? MacGyver tape?

Hi Zombi,

lol yep that 1 wire is all I need!

I couldn't find the sleeves at my local hardware store so I am using electrical tape.
