Does anyone have one that they're willing to give up?

I've been looking for one even since I got rid of mine and I figured this is the best place to look. :D

Ebay may be another place to look. Also check the Qmicra website from time to time and see if anyone is trading up to the V2. Maybe they'll sell their V1.

Why don't you like the Qmicra? Usually the people who spring for em are in love with them forever.

Not a fan of the look and need to satisfy that never-ending needfor new stuff again. Which is why I've been asking about the SG01 :D

I'll be honest I like Silverstone, the quality of the SG01 is pretty good but I was disappointed with mine. If I got another shoebox style case, I'd actually be looking at the Lanbox, those look kinda slick. Although I'm not sure. I like the tower style SG03 a lot.

You look at the updated SG01-F models? Made of steel but have more room and better layout. I love mine

No I had an SG01-E. Space wasn't a huge issue, I only have an 8800GTS that fit snugly, and I did want to upgrade video cards some day, but that's not going to happen soon. I don't know. I just didn't get what I was expecting from it. I do enjoy my SG03, though, and look forward to a long ownership of it.

What were your expectations of it and why were you disappointed? On a bit of a frenzy right now.. Lanbox -> Qmicra -> SG01 (debating still.. order in cart though :X). Doubt I'd go v350 as it's more box than shoe. They could've made this whole debacle for me easy by offering the SG01E with updated HD cage, but noo... just had to make it steel.

I'm not quite sure what my expectations were. It ran really hot (about 60C whereas my SG03 now runs about 10C cooler, although back then I had a CNPS8700, and now I have an NT06-Lite). I will say part of it may have been that I did not have a modular PSU, which was a major hassle (like any micro ATX case I'm sure). The screws strip real easy although the SG03's do as well. Silverstone must get cheap screws. Just be careful. And if you do notice that they are stripped, I noticed using a glasses-repair phillips head will get em out and in anyway.

A lot of it boils down to heat and size. It took up too much desk space, and the video card cut off most air flow in the case, so my CPU was basically in its own stagnant air the whole time if that makes sense. The two fans on the other side are completely blocked by video cards, and the hard drive's fan blows through outside the other side of the case.

The CPU area does have me worried since the two fans are video-card orientated; at least the cards are well set up. I can't think of how the CPU area will get cool air using the NT06s and I imagine the mofset and NB area will boil up quite a bit w/ no air flow. I'm thinking of sticking 2 40mm fans into the space for the Crossflow fan thing, if anyone knows 40mms won't fit speak up now:eek: Your mention of stripping is worrying - do the screws strip or the case, or both?

And modulars are definitely the best things ever invented. A Corsair 620HX wasn't modular enough so I switched to a Silverstone Strider, which aside from the discontinuation of the PP03 short cables is pretty satisfying. Size won't be too much of a concern, after all, I am using a Q :D

I haven't had problems with the case stripping, just the heads on the screws. The screw that holds the side arm thing that holds the two fans in place as well as the steel support down the middle of the case are the main offenders. They are pretty bad about stripping. The same screws are used in my SG03 in places and they strip as well.

I'm kinda sad they stopped selling the PP03 as well, although according to an e-mail response I got from Silverstone, they will be releasing a new one, although I don't know how accurate that is. Are the connectors on the new Strider series different than the older PSUs? Mine looks like it wouldn't be compatible with the PP03's molex connectors anyway, because of how they were on the PSU. On mine the connectors are rectangular instead of straight, if that makes sense.

I have the ST70F which should be the newer version as the PSU headers are 6 pin and not molex. I think the older ones did not have the 80+ certification. Not sure what Newegg is shipping out for older models that got updated (like the ST75F, ST60F, etc.). Also part of the update is a 135mm fan vs 120mm, but I do hear some clicking when I have my ears close to the PSU.

Hi,

well shipping by priority mail is around $6 , PP03 will no longer be available there will be a new cable kit but we have no date so far

That's about when I e-mailed them as well. Pretty much same reply which makes sense.

Yeah mine has the 135mm fan, although I hear no noise at all from it. My 8800GTS is a little noisy so that is probably why.

I had the SG01-F, I liked the looks of it just like the SG01 but I really wasn't a fan of how heavy and bulky it seemed. If silverstone could make an SG01 with the moveable harddrive bay but out of aluminum like the old SG01-B I'd still be in an SFF.

^^ Words of discouragement to a soon-to-be SG01 owner :confused::eek::( At least it's shorter than the Q >.>

Don't get me wrong it's a nice case once you get everything up and running. I found the motherboard mounting to be rather unorthodox and it was an HUGE pain in the ass to change the fan on the HDD bracket. After I got everything together It was nice the only gripe I had was the steel casing which made it extremely heavy and bulky for transporting to lans even with a sugopack.

don't get me wrong it's not a 90lbs tower but it was alot heavier than the Qmicra.

I will say that is has it's looks going for it and form factor. I think that it's hands down the best looking mATX case on the market and it's a nice form factor. Because it's low, long and wide It appears to take up alot less space than it does, and it's about the smallest you can get with out sacrificing TOO much cooler performance, or going to a shuttle.

You just need to plan your installation out and use a modular PSU and you'll be fine. I love my SG01-F, l can't wait to get my system running in it!
