Hey all,

I wanted to know before I start OCing my Q6600 if my stock temps are alright. I am running at Default VCore 1.20, and my idle temps are Core 0 38, Core 1 35, Core 2 28, Core 3 30. I am also using a Zalman 9700 cooler with Arctic Silver 5. I am wondering if I should reapply my thermal paste, or if those temps are normal with the 1st two cores being much higher than the other two. Thanks

The first two cores always tend to be a bit hotter than the rest. I think your temps are ok - in the 20's would be ideal but you are likely to drop a few degrees over the next couple of weeks as your thermal paste settles into all the imperfections of your heatsink. What thermal paste are you using?

Here are my idle temps @ 3.5ghz, just to give you an idea.

Depending on room temperature, my temps float a little lower or a little higher.. I am using AS5 but I am seriously considering using this AC MX-2 paste that's just sitting here looking at me.. LOL. I used some MX-2 paste on my sons E6420 processor yesterday. He is overclocked to 3.2ghz and he idles at 27c to 28c (but he does have a Coolermaster GeminII). I only have a Zalman CNPS-9500 AM2 (mATX case, tight fit)!

I am using some Arctic Silver 5, also this is a G0 Q6600 too. Also I ran prime95 on each core for 12 hours yesterday the highest the 1st core reached was 48, and the other cores were around 43-45
