Purchasing Digital Camera

Hey Guys,
I currently have a HP 735 3.2MP digital camera. I got it brand new for $100.00 At the time, I was just looking for something to keep with me to snap "on the go" shots, and not have to really worry about taking perfect care of the camera. Now the time has come for me to upgrade. I'm getting more and more into digital photography, and I'm opening a web designing business, and I'm going to be needing a better digital camera to use for high quality pictures.

So, I have narrowed it down to the Canon A85. I have read, read, and read some more about it. All of it's features, etc.. I really like what the options you get for the price of the camera. So, what do you guys think? Should I got with the A85?

Thanks!

I've been reading user reviews about the a85 and they wished they had gone with the a95 for the $100 more. Nicer pictures, flip LCD, larger Mpix...etc..etc.. Not too much more money either. I don't have one but I was looking at it and I decided against it and went with something much nicer, the Panasonic fz3 :-D w0000000t ;-)

Just sold the A85 to Mom for 200, the A95 is on the truck as I type this. :)

The A85 is a great camera. It has a nice handle on it and a comfortable grip. You can add lens filters and optical zoom extensions. The lens is the best in class right now and you wont find anything better. The only downside is that it takes 4 AA sized batteries, even with 4 Ni-MH batteries you'll be going through 4 about every 50 to 60 pictures.

The ELPH S410 is the EXACT same camera, but its smaller, more compact, and alot more durable. The best part of it is that this camera comes with a Lithium ION battery (same kind used in a cell phone) that will take about 150 pictures before giving out on you. Double that if you don't use the LCD screen. Perfect camera for the pocket, or if you go out all day and take pictures, or if you travel alot. I know people who work for Fuji, and Casio who swear by thier Canon ELPH.

Good luck in your search and I hope this helps! :D

A75/A85/A95 lasts for 200-300+ pictures on a set of NiMH, with the option to pick up a set of Alkalines if you run out. I carry one set of spare NiMH batteries with me, and have yet to run out of battery power between the two sets.

It *is* smaller, and it may take good pics (would have to see the noise level), but its not "the exact same camera" by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe same lense, same sensor, but it is missing the shutter priority, aperature priority and full manual modes.

Shutter lag is a tad worse, too.

I think I'm going to take my Christmas money and get a Canon A 95 :)

get the elph s500. It is the exact same camera as the A95 but it is more durable, more compact, and has lithium ion batteries.

Same EXCEPT for no shutter or aperature control - its all auto or presets baby.
