I'm going to try to set this up tonight. I really want Snapraid for my home media NAS box but don't want to waste a hard drive on something that will be less then 4gb.

Any reason why this wouldn't work well/fine? Puppy Linux should keep the thumb drive from dieing a premature death as its meant to run from ram (right?). Anyway... thoughts?

No reason it won't work..

FWIW Snapraid doesn't care if disks have different sizes, so you could also take one of your HDDs, partition out 30GB for an OS, and use the rest for media. Snapraid won't care that one disk is 30GB smaller than the rest.
