Anyone ever dealt with a punctured array? Noticed a drive failed in a Dell T310 at a new client on Friday, 3x500GB near line SAS drives, server is no under warranty, scrambled to get a replacement, got a 1TB near line SAS, popped it in, lights went green so I assumed it was rebuilding, Open manage wouldn't open even through the iDrac so not much I could do. On the drive home got a call from a remote user who said they were kicked out of the vpn but a few minutes later they got back in, this server runs RRAS amongst other things. When I got home I found errors in the system event log (server 2008R2) that mention a punctured array, Googling found that its pretty much game over when this happens. Since Friday there have been no further events in the event log mentioning anything to do with the drives or array, got all relevant data off it Friday night, the drive had only failed 24hrs previous. Server is still up but I'll be decommissioning it once call support for an application tomorrow morning to move said app to a new server. This server is also a backup Domain controller. Fun fun.
