Well I am still working on setting up my system because of a few setbacks (thanks to dangerden sending me the wrong res, and frozencpu sending me fittings that were to small) but while testing it, i noticed the dd 12v pump is pretty loud. Part of the extra noise I believe to be because of all the air that was in my circuit when I first started it up, and I haven't been able to get it full because the res is so small and too low in the case (floppy bay res) but I got a double 5.25 bay res (what i was supposed to get) coming tomorrow I hope.

Any way, I had an idea but I don't know how effective it would be. I thought about taking a metal box and cutting two holes in it for hoses, then cutting it in half, lining the inside with dynamat and then closing th pump inside it. Would this quiet the sound enought to make it worth it?

sounds good, but what about the heat on those? would that make a difference?
reason why i ask, is i am thinking of doing the same thing and mounting it slung under my 3 1/2 bays

That'll be fine. The pump doesn't produce much heat, so your sound box won't turn into a oven.

Acoustic ceiling tiles can substitute for the dynamat and/or the metal box. Wrapping the pump in foam is another easy, ugly alternative.

i havent done any measuring, but would a DD12v fit in a 3 1/2 bay(3 slot) sideways mounted in the screw-holes

i doubt it, but maybe :D i kinda hope so, cuz if it does, i will make my life ALOT easier
