Pump mounting

I have a 12v dc brushless pump (dc12-400) that I'd like to mount upside down.

As it stands the inlet goes in the side and outlet out the top. I'd like it to exit the bottom of the pump.

Will this be an issue?

And how do you propose reversing the flow of water through the pump?...presuming for argument that you even can, and that it is a good idea to try?

Flow wouldn't be reversed. The pump would just be mounted upside down.

Input would still be at the "Input" port and output the same. Instead of sitting it with the output pointing up, I want the output pointing down

As long as the outlet source of the water supply to the pump inlet is above the pump, then the pump outlet orientation should not matter.

Check the manufacturers documentation for the pump, I know a few that tell you expressly not to mount them upside down for whatever reason.
