Pulling, Pushing, In or Out?

Ok on my Lian Li 343B I will have 2xPA120.3's mounted IN the top of my case with 6x120mm fans pulling though the rads and out. Will also have 5x120mm fans (3 on back and 2 on front) pulling cool air in... is this correct? Or as told elsewhere I should have all the rad fans up top pushing the hot air down and into my case and being drawn out by the other fans.
 
Ive always seen the fans pulling air into the case. Unless everything is watercooled in your your system, you will still need some air moving through the case.

This is what I plan on doing with my PA120.3.
 
Well pretty much everything will be WC... CPU, NB, SB, Mosfets and 2x3870 X2's... both pulling air through the rads and out of the case while 3 120mm fans on the rear are pulling cool air in and also will have 2 more 120mm fans mounted in the front pulling cool air in.
 
That should be fine. Personally I'm still going to pull into my case as my lian li doesn't have enough fans to guarantee positive airflow through the case. There is not a large difference in temperature between floor and mid room air so either way should be fine.

Well, both are loosing propositions. Either way, the heat from one heats the other. That's why people mount rads externally with standoffs. In your case, the definitive answer would come from trying it both ways.
 
I am just assuming that since I will have just as much (if not more) air coming into the case and all the major heatbuilding components will be WCed then pulling through the rads and out of the case would be more beneficial.
 
Heat rises... with that in mind, the best way would be to exhaust the air through your radiators and through the top of the case. Depending on your fans, I don't even think there will be a large difference if you run 3 or 6 fans up top if you have another 4-5 fans pushing air into the case.

Every case is different and has different hot spots. 3 fans between the rads, and 3 inside the case on these hot spots should be enough... but you can see for yourself by starting with 6 total and adding more to check the differences with a temp monitor.
 
Maybe I didnt word my setup properly but its all good, using the Lian Li 343B gives me enough room in the lid to mount 3 PA120.3 side by side. But Im only going to Dremel slots for 2 rads and then still have enough space in the middle if at some pioint I want to do a triple loop... though at this point I dont see it being necessary.
 
i always pull out.

the closet thing to an exception to that would be fans over specific areas that i want airflow too. (ie: my harddrives. pretty much everything else is on water).

if you put a giant fan in your front door and started blowing air into your house... you'd get air movement in whatever room the fan is blowing into. turn on an attic fan though that's pulling air out of the house, and it starts pulling air through every window or little space you have open in your entire house. that's my reasoning behind having my fans pulling out anyways...

i wouldn't have any rad fans pushing any air into your case.
 
A fan will push the most air when it works against little or no pressure. The same is true for fan intake. They will pull in the most aur when working against little or no vacuun. They have P/Q curves, just like pumps. See: http://www.actrx.com.tw/technical_pq.html

If the intake doesn't about equal the exhaust, you're just wasting airflow by having the fans work against each other.
