Psu+Video problems(or xp?), your thoughts?

I have a computer that the PSU suddenly died on. The psu has been replaced, but the video is acting strange. The mobo posts fine(I can navigate in the bios as long as I want), I get the windowsXP spash screen with the blue status bar running across the screen, but when the login page is supposed to come up, the monitor goes into stand-by. You can try to turn it back on, but it immediately goes back to stand-by. All connections have been double checked(inside and out), agp settings verified in bios, different monitor tried. All the same thing....its like the monitor just loses the signal. I dont really know if the video signal is to blame, or windows.

Did I miss anything else? I want to try all options before I have to spend money on a different video card just to troubleshoot this.
btw: its nvidea.

Try booting into safe mode & removing ACPI Power Management, reboot and let it reinstall. Might help.
