hi guys,

i am in the process of putting a price list for my new rig together and i was wondering about PSU's. i am probably going to run another antec 900 with a intel penryn processor of some sort, an 8800GT (might be a 8600GTS temporarily), a P35 mobo and a single 250GB HD to start off with.

the ones i have found so far:

seasonic S12 550/650 - $156/185
antec neo he 550 - $146
silverstone ST60F - $159

i need a modular PSU to help with cable management that either has no 120mm fan in the top (antec neo he) so that it can be turned upside down, a power supply with fixed mobo cables on the left side (looking from where the IEC cable plugs in) or a PSU that has all the cables modular, including the mobo cables (silverstone).

I have a Seasonic S12 500 and a S12m 600. Very clean power and never give me any problem.

okay, are they modular?

turns out that these are the S12+ versions, whats the difference?

yeh, i just found the VX 550 $159 in store at a place really close to my house, so i might get that, but what is the difference between the VX and HX becasue at that same store i could get the HX 620 for $189.

(remember all these prices are in AUD not USD)

pc power and cooling 750 Silencer Quad - has a single 12V rail @ 60 amps and should be enough for a long time. Besides you get a 5 year warranty too and pc power and cooling's customer service is simply amazing too.

I have a coolermaster 600w, and its running 8 fans, graphics card, mobo, 3 sata drives, 1 cd drive and 1 dvd drive... and it is amazing!! it keeps everything going!

My system has 560w silverstone strider Model no. st56f silent.

My system came with the 8600 gts 512mb. I could have upgraded but i didn't was thinking about upgrading when i purchased it to the 8800 gtx 768mb but that was like 391 more dollars so i blew it off.

i didn't know there was a 512 MB version of the 8600GTS...

i REALLY want modular, especially since the case will probably be a 900, so i will probably get the HX, or maybe just the silverstone ST60F...

I bought my system at www.digitalstormonline.com If you click on there gaming computers then just pick anyone and click customize then go down to video card and open that up you will see it toward the bottom and like i said above it was like close to 400 dollars..... more if you wanted the overclocked one.

okay, i'm pretty sure i'll get the corsair HX 620 Watt

that is pretty cool that there is a 512mb version...

+1.....

i'm not really into getting the main parts of a PC over the net, so because i'm in Australia i am buying everything i can from stores that are close to my house. the power supplies i have listed are ones that i know i could get and i'm asking for recommendations on those.

if you want to have a look at what i could potentially get here are my 2 favourite stores:

www.cpl.net.au

www.msy.com.au

both of those sites have a pdf that lists almost all their stock so on both, you just have to go down to PSU's and look there. I am almost definately getting another 900 for this system so i need a modular PSU with good cables and preferably not have a 120mm fan in the top so i can run the mobo cables along the side of the bottom of the case, then up to the connectors. at the moment, the corsair HX 620 is looking good, it just means i have to go across town to get it, which, with school and sport and everything is something i don't get to do fantastically often...
