hey guys, i was wondering if a PC power and cooling or corsair 750 watt PSU will be enough to run a 4870 crossfire somewhere down the line?

i was planning on buying a new PC after i get a single 4870, then later down the road buying the second 4870 and putting it into crossfire.

the specs of the system i am gonna get is this:

nehalm processor
x58 motherboard
4gb ram
10k raptor
7200 rpm 200gb HDD
dvd-rw
2x 4870's

so, do you think i would be ok with a 750watt PSU?

or should i go with an 850 or 1k PSU?

well made / respectable 750s (like the ones you are looking toward) are usually rated for quad / triple sli - so either 3 8800ultras or 2 9800gx2's. i dont think 2x4870's will draw as much as that.

They 750 should be fine. If I were you, I would go for the 1k and futureproof. You can't go wrong.

i was thinking i'd get an 850 watt, because i dont think a 1k watt PSU would fit in my antec p180, unless someone can tell me otherwise.

i may get an antec 900 or 1200 eventually, but not till after the system is built

i guess, ill get this 1k PC power and cooling PSU, cause it's only $30 more than the 860watt from them.
PCPC 1kwatt

I had no trouble fitting a 1000W Corsair in my Raidmax Sagitta case (which is a bit smaller than the P180), with the top 5.25" bay occupied.

I believe the Corsair 1000W can fit in all mid-Tower and Full-Tower cases.

Im using a 850w antec Quattro, think thats a nice safe PSU to allow for future hard drive expansions and other kit as well. I very much doubt you'll have any problems with a 750w however.

yea, i was just considering the price difference between the 750watt and the 1kwatt, and i think i'll go ahead and get the 750, because i'd rather save that $200 and get another videocard or something.
