im thinking about replasing the sonun fans in my psu, which are about 32dba, and move 39cfm, with 2 fans that are on;y 20.3 dba, but move only 21cfm. my psu has plases for 2 80mm fans, so thats 42 cfm comparied to an original 78 cfm. is that to low? im using an alied 400 wht psu. should i do this, or go with louder fans(im looking for a quiet pc).

Get some panaflo. More quiet and also more cfm.

I think you would be alright, but I would not take the risk.

if ur looking for a quiet PC then definately go with the quieter fans

btw use the spell check ;)

the egg doesnt have any 80mm panflows, and im looking for blue led fans.

dBa does not add like that...

He was adding CFM, not dB.
But, CFM probably won't add like that either. You might be ok with the lower flow, but I wouldn't do it for fear of frying my PS or reducing my power output. I'd go with the Panaflo's as well.

FrozenCpu has them, and they're great...untailed so that adds a couple bucks but still awesome fans.

hello???? should i just go with coolermaster fans?

Wich one are the coolermaster ?
Also, the final decision is your's, I think people have said their opinion, that they would not risk it and if they had to do it , they would use, silent but performing fan in terms of dba/cfm. The panaflo for instance.

Your power supply may have places for two fans, but the places would probably essentially be in a series. In this case, you'd still be only moving 21CFM of air. Unless the two fan places were right next to each other (hence essentially working in parallel), you can't really get more flow than a single fan puts out. If this is a little 300w power supply, you'll probably be fine. But if it's anything more than that, I wouldn't go for a lower CFM fan.

no, its a 400 wht. the thing is is that the panflows arnt led and move only 3 more cfm

Well it's pretty obvious that you want the LED fans badly, so just get them. Then tell us when your power supply goes up in smoke. Or else listen to our advice, realize that lighted fans are sort of lame, and have better cooling.

By the way, here are specs for the panaflos
(speed)(CFM)(dB)(watts)
Low 24.0 21.0 .82
Medium 31.1 28.0 1.49
High 39.6 32.0 2.08

these are 3 different fans.

well, coolermaster fans are 25 dba and move 32 cfm. led isnt that important, but noise is. and the panflows are a bit noisy from what i see

The majority of Panaflos 80mm's are Sleeve (Hydro-Wave) bearing and I suggest a high mtbf dual bearing Sanyo Denki or a Papst fan, a Power supply is a critical component and if the fan fails you are in a world of trouble.

I humbly suggest you use two of these fans that are made to last, are 30cfm, and best of all are inaudible at 23dBa

If a power supply has a noisy fan, this is the fan to get to replace the noisy fan. Nothing wrong with using a Panaflo for a case fan, but imho critical items like Power supplie fans, you should buy the best you can afford.
