Hey ive just ordered two PSU's for my new case and i was wondering if any of you know a simple way to chain them together.

Could i literally pull the green and black out of one of the mobo connectors, strip the green and black on the other PSU a few inches back from the connector and solder them together?

Any advice welcome haha.

Cheers

What are you running that needs the power of two PSU ?

Yes you could.
When I had two PSU's in one box, I used a 12v relay to start the second one off the first.
Took the 12v off a molex from the first PSU to throw the relay and the green/black to start the second PSU.
That way its easier to start one PSU for testing etc etc without the other.

Luck .......... :D

Do you by any chance have pictures of what you did to make it a bit clearer?

The reason ive gone for two PSU's is i was in the market for about 800W and realised that two 400W is cheaper and quieter and also i thought the chaining part would be a nice challenge...bit trickier thani thought hehe.

What are you powering that needs 800 watts ?
The only boxen I run ATM that need that type of power are dual CPU & GPU rigs maxout with memory.

I used the second supply to power TEC's and fans only because with the correct load on the 5v/3.3v rails the 12v may not be within spec.

I got a 12v car relay, used for dipping the main/fog lights, to switch the second supply on.
From the first supplies molex built a 12v (yellow/black) connector to one side of the relay.
Then from the second PSU's ATX plug built a second connector (green/black) so it would switch one when the relay got thrown.

Luck ............. :D

Everyone;s curious about my intended use hehe,

By christmas the system will be a quad and 8800gtx plus my current 7600GT for extra monitors.

Also i intend the rig to have 15 HDD's as funds allow.
