psu calculator!

Not particularly. It doesn't tell you what amperage on what rails you need. It gives bogus readings. It puts my single 6600gt and opteron system at over 500w draw.

Avoid.

I'd like to hear some expert opinions on this.... puts my draw needs at 711w but my 500w liberty is getting the job done...

doesn't sound so off for my system. in addition to what i have in my sig, i have an ide drive and several lights and it puts me at 451watts. if i change my video card from my 7900 to a 6800, it goes up 7watts, not that it would explain over 500watts. you'd think that with my scsi setup, that it would put me well over the average.

I agree with Bbq, no amperage ratings make this worthless. Mine said it's using 277 watts but i'm thinking it's a bit low.

Sounds like you don't need any opinions since you figured it out yourself ;)

The guide is fine as its just a general guideline. It would be colse to impossible to list for every possible combo.
It clearly says

QUOTE:
The recommended total Power Supply Wattage gives you a "GENERAL" idea on what to look for BUT it is NOT a crucial factor in power supply selection! Total Amperage Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most important, followed by the +5V amperage and then the +3.3V amperage. Example: PSU you want to buy has 400W total wattage output but only has 16A on +12V rail. But your configuration might require 20A on +12V rail.

also don't forget at the bottom left , there is a power usage indicator, u are probably not going to be using 3 hdd and 2 dvdr's at peak at the same time
