Hi.
I've bought a PSU for my new computer which I will be getting in a few days.
It will have the following:
MSI Neo Plat S754
AMD 64 3000+ with heatsink/ fan
512MB Crucial Mem
1 12GB ATA 100? maybe ATA 66
1 40GB WD ATA 100
1 120GB Segate SATA 150
1 Standard FDD
1 Standard DVD-ROM
1 Lite-On LDW-811S DVD+/-RW
SB Audigy 2 Platinum eX
Sapphire 9800 Pro
3 8*8 cm case fans
and 1 Sound Sensitive NEON using a 12V connector.
The PSU that I have bought is Q-TEC 550W Triple Fan with the following stated on the box with heading 'Power Ratings':
+5V @ 28A
+12V @ 15A
-5V @ 0.5A
-12V @ 0.8A
+3.3V @ 20A
+5V Standby @ 2.5A
and these values on the acutally PSU:
O/P PEAK COLOR
+3.3V 28A Orange
+5V 35A Red
+12V 22A Yellow
-5V 1.0A White
-12V 1.0A Blue
Which table do I look at?
I have use the calculator at http://takaman.jp/D/index.html?english and here are the closest results I could find:
3.3V line MAX 2.7A or above
5V line MAX 18.1A or above : **very important
12V line MAX 17.9A or above : **very important <---This has me worried because the tables mentioned above show two values :S
3.3 + 5V combined MAX 99.4W or above : *important
3.3 + 5 + 12V combined MAX 314.8W or above
total output 324.8W or above
I have also read the sticky in this forum, and found this;
Will this PSU be comfortable supporting all of these components?

This has got be confused. Please help meadd up the rails with this calculator
http://takaman.jp/D/index.html?english
and compare it to the specs listed on the PSU
then you build in a safety margin of from 1\2 to 1\3rd
by deducting 1\2 to 1\3 the value of the PSU's rated amps and see if it still fits
it actually varies with the distribution ratios your likely to need more +12V than +3.3V or +5V
(CPUs now being powered by the +12V primarily)
