I currently have a v-series (version 1) ultra 500w power supply. I was fortunate enough to win an EVGA 680i SE mobo and it has an 8 pin mobo connector. My trouble is that my current PSU does not have that option. So do I purchase an molex to 8-pin adapter or buy the new Antec Sonata III with the 500w power supply. I currently have the first version Sonata and I have the need for a quiet case. My third option would be to keep my case and purchase another PSU for it. Any suggestions?

Setup is in my sig.

The new Sonata comes with an Earthwatts PSU.. which is ok, but with my past experience with Antec branded PSUs, I'd stay away from it anyway. You can get a P180B on special for $50-60 on special sometimes, $90 at Newegg right now. Nice, big, quiet case -- I went from a first gen Sonata to it, and much prefer the P180.

I'd say for you, right now, the thing to do would be to keep your current case and swap out PSUs. Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, Silverstone, Thermaltake Toughpower line, all good options.

I'd replace the Ultra, regardless. First gen Ultras can be nasty from what I've read.
