PS3 Redesign?

I Also hear a Drop to a 45nm Cell Processor is set to take place soon.. that should drop the Heat-Sink Requirements a good bit on a similar Clocked/Spec'd Processor.

well the rumor obviously isnt a load of crap but the article really didnt SAY anything, just a picture they admittedly mocked up themselves, and a teaser that they would divulge more next week if you "buy their magazine".

Screw them, they havent given one tidbit of real new info, not even really fake new info aside from the admittedly not real picture, we already got insider reports about a redesigned PS3 before them, all they're saying is "what if it looked like this" wrapped around filler text.

all i want to know soon is if the new PS3 will have backwards compatability at all, the 80GB was already a compromise, but i might have to get it if this new one doesnt have it at all (and really i cant see any problem no matter what the size of just keeping the software version at least, although i imagine putting the hardware version back in couldnt be that crazy now that sales are up, and costs are lower all around).

We read just fine, that is probably why it says "...concept pictures of the supposed redesign." ;)

Well then you write very horribly because you wrote:

If this in fact a real design (which is doubtful) ...
If you knew it was a concept why even ask if it was in fact a real design. I'll give you credit that you state it was doubtful, but you still asked.

You further add:
When Sony isn’t even close to breaking even on the hardware yet, totally redesigning the PS3 would cost a bunch of money (retooling facilities, etc.), so I just don’t see it happening anytime soon.
Dude where have you been? It's been widely reported they were breaking even earlier this month on hardware. Oh yeah, just reported that their gaming department which analyst predicted would lose several hundred million actually profited several hundred million (or maybe just over a hundred) on the back of improved decreased PS3 hardware costs and increased software sales.

Well then you write very horribly <snip>blahblahblahsameoldeeznutsblahblah</snip>

And yet you show up day after day after day to read it. We appreciate your continued support. :D

I think you missed the quarterly report we posted that plainly stated:

Associated Press said:
Still, while Sony returned to profitability in its game business, which includes the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2 and game software, the PlayStation 3 was still losing money.

In the future, please let me know ahead of time what you would like me to say / report that would make YOU happy. Screw the other hundred thousand people a day that come here for our news.

the ps3 is still in the red because of the massive amounts of money they lost on earlier systems, however newer systems do break close to even. I believe hard even posted an article that validates the fact that the ps3 breaks even per system.

from the article:

"The new PS3 is a proper looker: if it's anything like the illustration our team of designers have come up with, then we're looking at one hell of a sexy piece of kit."

translation: we heard a rumor and made this stuff up.
