ive searchedhte forums and looked athte LCD sticky, but im unable to find anything that shows one how to vvire it Svideo with out soldering(my solder skills are to low to even want to try) i havea PS1 part(see pic) i was hopping would work, it jsut looks like ill need some sort of Sviedo to RCA thing? if any of oyu can help, id be greatfull

Hes got a point dude... Anyway the only real way you can do it is if you solder the wires to a S-video plug.
 
I also had to spend about 5 minutes reading that to figure out what it said....after that I wasn't really sure at all what you wanted?

This is the Modding forum so are you removing the PS1 LCD and using that as a screen....in that case you are above my knowledge...I know it can be done.....just above me

If you just want to hook your PS1 up to a LCD you are gonna need some type of video converter....something to convert the signal into something your LCD can read.....do some searches as I know it has been discussed countless times.

Either way...clarify what the issue is please. And take a little longer to type your messege as your first post is nearly illegible.

yes taht, i dont dare to try and solder on the board, id rather try it that way first :)
 
So basically, your video card has an s-video output, your lcd has an rca input, and you need to convert it?

Why not just get a converter, like they have here??

I mean, unless you have some sort of size constraints, that seems to be the simplest method of doing what you want. Plus, it leaves the original converter for the lcd intact, so if you ever wanted to use it for something else, you can. :D
 
well id rather hack up one of my rca cables and one of my s viedo cables that are sitting in a storage box then spend any money :) if its at all possable, im jstu not sure what wires go where
 
Yea idk if it will work without a converter. And seriously work on basic english bro, makes reading your posts alot easier. :D
 
you cant just "hack up" an RCA cable and get S-Video out of it, they arent the same thing. it wont work with out an active adapter
 
That adapter won't help you, the PSOne screen doesn't take S-Video or composite in via that port, only RGB and stereo sound, all other wires just go straight through. The closest you can get to S-Video in on a PSOne is the A/V-in port, which takes composite, and is like a socket for headphones, but has 4 conductors instead of three. If you don't mind mono sound, you can use a S-Video to composite adapter and put composite in on the red plug of a 1/8" headphone plug to dual-RCA (used for hooking a PC to a Stereo) adapter.
 
I don't think a ps1 lcd has anything to do with this i think he wants to make that RCA to ps1 thing work on his video card.

A translation for those of you lacking fuzzy logic:

"I've searched the forums and looked at the LCD sticky, but I'm unable to find anything that shows one how to wire it [a PSOne LCD's] S-video without soldering(my solder skills are too low to even want to try). Well I'm just about to put a PSOne screen in my system and already have hooked it up to the S-Video out of my video card and works fine.
The cable you need which cost me about 5 uk pounds is a 2 plug(males) RCA - 3.5mm jack plug. Actually you only need one RCA to one 3.5mm Jack plug the other RCA is for sound which if your just hooking up the monitor for specs ect you wont need so you can hack that off, just make sure its the right one before hacking it off. you'll also need a RCA to S-Video converter plug extension aswell

my connetion as it is:
Display Card S-Video socket --> S-video to RCA convertor plug --> 2 plug (males)RCA cable ends with 3.5mm mini Jack plug --> into PSOne A/V Mini Jack socket.

I've just this minute got a 12v incar converter with a switch to reg the voltage (1.5v, 3v, 4.5v, 6v, 7.5v, 9v, 12v.) Cut off the bit that goes into the in-car lighter and soldered on a Molex plug. all I have to do now is mount the screen in my front panel which will mean I'll have to move my power, reset switch as well as the HD & power LED's. wish me luck first time doing this amount of electronics

I made one like that and just used trial and error to figure out what goes where. There'll be 4 wires on the inside of your s-video cable, two of which will be thinner than the other two, and these will be sleeved. Splice these together, and then splice the remaining wires to each other. Now take your RCA cable, and attach the thin wires from your s-video cable to the thin wire on your RCA cable, and do likewise with the remaining wires, and it should work.

No active adapter or anything is needed.

not exactly sure what I'm goign to display on it at the moment, probably some internet and machine stats and play WinDVD though it when playing DVD's ect. anyways here it is :p very rough fitting really, goign to get some sheet metal at some point and re do the whole front panel with just holes cut out where the CD Drive's come out (stealthed ofcourse)& for my card reader and PSOne screen
See if I can get them vandel resistance switches too :D love them switches :eek:

Not as good as other mods I've seen but I have ago and see whats out there and see if I can have ago as well

I was just reading through the various tutorials on soldering wires and such for the ps1 lcd to work. Is there a noticeable difference between soldering the wires to the vid card (wherever they go) and using adapters like crazybee did ^^?
