I need a PS for an aging system with AGP that runs Vista rather well. I'd like it to be under $50, silent and at least 500 watts.

Any suggestions?

P4 2.8e @ 3.2, FX5900, 4 case fans, 2HDs, 2 DVDRWs.

I hav had a cheap 480 PS and a Antec True 380 2.0. Both have gone bad on me, so I don't see the reason to get a $$ PS. Why not go like 30 bucks or something?

I just want one that will be quiet, thats the most important to me.

Because in general they are crap. If you keep buying cheap PSU's they are going to keep dieing on you.

A dead power supply is the quietest power supply.

Well, like I said. I had a good one and a bad one, they both crapped out. Plus, I am not gonna be gaming with this box as it doens't have much life left.

The under 50 over 500 is going to be hard unless you can catch an Ultra or an Antec Neo/Trio on sale with MIR.

Probably the best choice, if you're (referring to Nismo) looking for something in that price range.

Otherwise, for your hardware, maybe a XClio Goodpower 500 watt unit (49 + shipping) or Stablepower 460 (a bit more) could do.

Go with the Corsair 520HX for $80 AR. Awesome deal, and it's one of the best psu's in this wattage range.
