When reloading the drivers and updates, what is the preferred install order?

SP2 (Which includes DX9b, right?)
Chipset
Video
Audio
LAN

is what I assume...

you can do it in any order, it wont affect anything. but this is how i do it
1. install xp
2. drivers and crap
3. software
4. sp1 and windows update :)

SP2? I thought that was still a beta...

The order I do it in:

Install XP
Spybot/Firewall
Windows Update
Drivers
Software
Complete Setting up rest of the settings

Oh, and to answer your question, (lol)

I would go LAN drivers first depending if thats how you get your internet and access to the network, then video, chipset, audio.

As viper said, it doesn't really matter just go in the same order as best fit for you.

This is the best way I've ever done it:
  1. Fresh install of XP
  2. Turn on built-in firewall (if you have a router, skip this step)
  3. Install only the drivers that came with your hardware; however, if there are new versions for them (i.e. nvidia stuff), use those, but do not install "extra" drivers that the manufacturer has on their website. Only install the drivers that are required for the product to function.
  4. Windows update - Service pack 1 / 2
  5. WU - all other service packs
  6. WU - critical updates
  7. WU - drivers, only if it is for a piece of hardware that did not have drivers (i.e. lcd monitors)
  8. WU - recommended updates (optional... obviously)
  9. configure windows with all the settings you want (or import from a backup; disable the builtin firewall if you enabled it before WU)
  10. Install anti-virus program
  11. Install a firewall (if you need a software firewall)
  12. Install all other programs and hardware that requires software installation before you can plug it in

Kinda confusing at parts. Let me know if you want me to expand
